Chengching Lake Baseball Stadium Rebranding
Chengching Lake Baseball Stadium is in Niaosong District, situated between the heart of Kaohsiung City and the continuously developing suburban corridor. Chengching Lake Baseball Stadium has witnessed the budding and fluctuating history of Taiwanese professional baseball since its inauguration in 1999, nearly 25 years ago. In 2023, the Kaohsiung City Government's Sports Development Bureau initiated a phased large-scale renovation, and the stadium was reopened for professional baseball games in April 2024.
This project design encompasses open public spaces and areas for resident units, breaking away from conventional spatial frameworks with curved shapes and the colors associated with baseball as the central design themes. Starting with site identity design, the project spans the identification application system, indoor and outdoor signage systems, and space renovation. Design elements are drawn from Chengching Lake, the site's architecture, and the representative details and cultural symbols of baseball, combining to address the multifaceted design needs of this project. The landscape, site environment, and sports culture are interwoven to form a continuous relationship, condensed and connected to all design planning elements.
The brand identity design of Chengching Lake Baseball Stadium uses the building’s iconic architectural shape, deeply rooted in the public's memory, as the main symbol. The curves of the structure, the arcs in baseball, and the structure of the standard text resonate with each other, extending people's memories and familiar emotions. The design context of "architectural imagery, passionate memories, and the coexisting values of tradition and future" extends to spatial signage design and interior space renovation.
