Howard West
Howard West is an inviting collection of seventeen residences on Melbourne’s doorstep, presenting a unique model for living behind a revitalized street façade rich in heritage value.
The project was designed to meet stringent planning controls and site constraints. Heritage features concealed under decades of paint and alterations were restored and accentuated with steel shrouds and steel-frame windows, while modern features like the operable timber veil create an interplay of light and shadow from day into night.
The positive impact of Howard West on its community is a testament to the power of good design on people, place and history.
