The judging committee of the Kyoto Global Design Awards is made up of top experts in each field, including design, art and culture, and fashion. Entries are reviewed from various angles with an emphasis on lifestyle and human nature. Judges look for designs that influence an entire field and lead to new creative or business collaboration possibilities.
Every Kyoto Global Design Awards laureates underwent an extensive committee review process. Winners are chosen through a series of reviews and assessments that look at their trend-setting ability and influence from various angles.

In Irish mythology, Donn is associated to the god of the dead. Derived from the Celtic word for Dark Lord, Donn is said to dwell under the rock tunnel at Tech Duinn, where the souls of the dead gather to be chosen by the Donn.
This table light looks like a flying fish and more specifically a whale. The absence of fins, mouth and baleen as well as its asymmetrical appearance reveal clean curves and lines.
Derived from the Old Irish for fire, Aodh is the legendary god of the underworld and eldest son of Lír, also holding a place in Irish mythology as a captivating seducer.
