The judging committee of the Kyoto Global Design Awards is made up of top experts in each field, including design, art and culture, and fashion. Entries are reviewed from every angle with an emphasis on lifestyle and human nature. Judges look for designs that influence an entire field and lead to new creative or business collaboration possibilities.
Every Kyoto Global Design Awards laureates underwent an extensive committee review process. Winners are chosen through a series of reviews and assessments that look at their trend-setting ability and influence from various angles.
Restaurant/Hotel/Bar OF WINNERS
Named for its location on 8 ('Ocho') Cleveland Street in Causeway Bay, Calle Ocho encompasses over 2,500 square feet of space, 130 seats and three private rooms across two storeys on the corner site overlooking Victoria Park and Fashion Walk.
Ksana is a brand of matcha green tea imported from Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture. The word “Ksana comes from Sanskrit, meaning a small period of time.

The design of the space for this outlet of Alchemist Coffee is built around the idea of a timber pavilion nestled on the gently sloped site, providing shelter and respite to passers-by.
Minimal in footprint and grounded by locally sourced, sustainable materials, Stoney Rise Cellar Door is a discrete structure centred on the visitor experience — a simple space to dwell in, converse, and absorb the vistas of northern Tasmania’s Tamar Valley.

DOT Coffee Station #1 is a city café that is based in one of the most active neighbourhoods in Kyiv and specializes in high-quality coffee drinks to go. The interior of the venue is a manifestation of modern city life. It is eclectic with a soft rhythm and an urban vibe.
The Shy Guy is a creative members space, a destination venue, curated to offer respite from the more populated late night precincts. Its hideaway location is perfect and discrete, but once you enter the venue, you are welcomed with all of the amenities of a luxury space for music, dance and world class hospitality.
Occupying the ground floor of the Casa Camper Berlin – the second hotel developed by Mallorcan shoe brand Camper – Café Camaleon combines a hotel lobby, restaurant, and retail showcase in the same space.
The aim of the project was to create a bakery house / espresso bar getting away from the traditional and create a project that would stand-out from the product and the communication, till the interior design representing the concept of the project, a community driven, highly engaging brand and elevating the overall experience.
A considerable feature of this project is the creation of a space under the theme of ‘learning from the past’ with the involvement of artists who have connections to Kyoto.
