This project is all about embracing simplicity. This doesn't mean sacrificing impact or aesthetics but rather reducing the design to its core elements. By doing so, the brand is able to communicate its message more effectively and build a deeper connection with its audience. The new identity system for the "museum of contemporary photography" provides the opportunity to simplify, streamline, and rejuvenate the institution, making it more accessible and relevant to a wider audience.
The identity system is accompanied by a strong logo, represented by two dots symbolizing the camera we carry every day, our eyes—hence the motto "The Act of Looking." The logo is designed to be legible from a distance or up close and has a visual presence, whether it's the main focus or a secondary element in any design.
The identity system also includes two sets of typographic systems, one for the institution and one for the exhibition campaigns. The institution typographic system comes with two typefaces: a primary san serif typeface for a clean and minimalistic look and a secondary monospace typeface to create contrast. The campaign and exhibition typographic system utilizes four unique display typefaces, allowing different exhibitions and campaigns to utilize one of the typefaces to create unique and captivating graphics while maintaining consistent visual language.
Whether it is designing posters, animations, or installations, the new identity system for the "museum of contemporary photography" leverages its simplicity to spark creativity and encourage new possibilities for the institution and its audience. Ultimately becoming an adaptive system designed to stand against time.
