Disaster Prevention : ITSUMO MOSHIMO Portable Kit / ITSUMO MOSHIMO Go kit / ITSUMO MOSHIMO Home kit
This fresh take on disaster preparedness enables consumers to customize their own kits by purchasing products sold as everyday items.
Under the name 'ITSUMONOMOSHIMO', MUJI has been raising the awareness of everyday disaster prevention through food, clothing, and housing since 2008. Everyday behaviours have been re-examined and disaster prevention sets have been developed with the themes 'portable', 'go', and 'home', which aim to make disaster prevention easier to incorporate into our daily lives.
With disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, and torrential rain seemingly an everyday occurrence, disaster preparedness goods are growing in importance in present-day Japan. This fresh take on disaster preparedness enables consumers to customize their own kits by purchasing products sold as everyday items at Muji stores to use as disaster preparedness goods. Precisely because they are intended for use only in emergencies, conventional disaster preparedness goods tend to have designs that evoke a sense of crisis, but now that disasters have become so frequent, being able to use items similar to those used in ordinary life in an emergency as well helps to promote a calmer mindset. Even the cardboard packaging blends into the background if left in one’s living space, which we appreciated as an element that accorded with the concept of making the extraordinary ordinary.
